First of all, Lana Del Rey is so strange. But her voice is gorgeous, and I love her anyway. This song has been stuck in my head all day.
Also,
I don't what it is about me, but the homeless seem to love me.
Once, during freshman year, when I was having a particularly bad day and felt especially bad about myself, a homeless man approached me in a store.
He said, "Excuse me miss, but if you are not busy this weekend I was hoping we'd go on a date."
Unfortunately, I was leaving that weekend for home...He was very polite, however.
Then a couple weeks ago I was out covering a story, and I was late to a meeting. I was also wearing a pretty flowy dress.
So as I'm sprinting downtown in my heels, a gust of wind comes before I have time to hold down my dress. And, alas, I pretty much flash everyone driving around in the lunch rush.
Then there was this pause in my mind, like "Keep going. You don't have time to be humiliated, just keep walking and hope you don't run into anyone you know."
I didn't.
BUT.
I did hear this wild laughing behind me right after the incident. I turned around, saw a homeless man laughing, clapping and pointing directly at me. Not just a snicker, no. Like a knee-slapping, blue-in-the-face kind of laugh.
So what did I do?
Laughed hysterically all the way to the meeting. Because truly, there are probably worse things in life than giving a very busy street a good laugh. Where everyone goes "Hilarious. So glad that's not me."
Anytime, Peoria.
(But not really)
Anyway, I have been in a fall kind of mood lately.
My standby is always a sweaters and boots pair, but this year my heart's set on a leather or a trench jacket.
1. Topshop
2. Topshop
3. Modcloth
4. Modcloth
Anyone else ready to break out the fall wardrobe? Personally, I'm not ready to trade in sundresses for mittens, but it's fun to plan :)
